Grab some yellow yarn and brown yarn and a hook and you are ready to go. I used scraps of acrylic yarn, but cotton yarn would also work. This sunflower uses special stitches called a bobble (puff stitch) along with

Crochet Sunflower Pattern Instructions

Size J crochet hook, worsted weight yarn

Chain 5, slip stitch (sl st) to join. insert hook in first chain from hook, yo pull up loop, ch 3 with first loop on hook (ignore second loop), yo pull through both loops on hook (this makes one bobble), do this in each chain (5 bobbles).join with slip stitch.

Next round make bobbles all the way around. (10 bobbles) Fasten off. A huge thank you to the Crochet Dude for teaching me his modified bobble stitch. It is perfect for the center of a sunflower!

Join on a new color. Beside the raised bobble, single crochet, chain 2, treble (tr), chain 3, slip stitch in the third chain from hook, treble, chain 3, slip stitch all in same space (makes a petal).  Chain 1, continue all the way around placing petals to the left of each bobble stitch. Chain 1 between each petal.

In chain 1 stitch between petals *sc,  chain 2, treble, chain 3, slip stitch in the third chain from hook, treble, chain three, slip stitch all in the chain 1 stitch*  chain three behind first row petal, repeat between * all the way around, chaining 3 between each petal. Fasten off. Weave in ends with a yarn needle.
