Thanks to Vanity Fair for challenging our family to #takebackthetable.  We are all busy and it is often hard to sit down for a meal together. Mealtime is proving to very beneficial in raising happy healthy kids!

According to The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University, kids and teens who share family dinners three or more times per week:

  • Are less likely to be overweight
  • Are more likely to eat healthy food
  • Perform better academically
  • Are less likely to engage in risky behaviors (drugs, alcohol, sexual activity)
  • Have better relationships with their parents

Our friends at Vanity Fair know how valuable mealtime is and are encouraging us to take time to share a meal and make memories. So print off some dinner questions and gather together for a meal.  It doesn’t need to be fancy! It can even be take out. The point is to spend time together!

Take the pledge to #takebackthetable and eat together as a family at least once a week. Be sure to encourage your friends to take the pledge too!
