Hi folks! It’s Melanie from Hello Melly Designs here with a festive way to say thanks to Jolly Ol’ St. Nicolas! Imagine with me: It’s Christmas Eve, and the excitement fills the air! On this night, the bedtime routine (made 10x harder because of that air-filling excitement!) isn’t finished without one final touch- setting out Cookies for Santa! Santa will be even more pleased with his treats when they are sitting atop this cute quilted placemat, made specifically for his special snack! (Oh, that little red bow! My favorite ;))

 DIY Placemat pattern

This free quilt pattern is good even for beginners, and a project this small is sure to be quick as a wink. Wrap it up with a cute plate and mug, and give it as a neighbor gift! Everyone knows that Christmas time is cuddle-in-a-quilt time, and on Christmas Eve, even Santa’s cookies deserve a little extra snuggle on a quilted placemat.

The wreath is a good placeholder for a salad size plate- I bought a simple red one and personalized it with a paint pen. So simple and SO cute!

Better hope St. Nick comes quick- or he might find all his cookies are gone! 😉

I’m Melanie, a wife and mother, quilter, designer, and lover of chocolate covered pretzels. I blog at Hello Melly Designs, and I sell my quilt patterns and lettering prints in my Etsy shop. I’d love for you to follow my adventures on Instagram and Facebook! If you like free quilt patterns, I have a free Toddler/throw quilt pattern you might enjoy! If you like lettering projects, check out the hand lettered wood slice I made for a friend- it was hard to send it away! I love offering freebies on my blog (my favorite so far is this motivational quote!), but I also have a new newsletter where my subscribers get free digital prints and projects in their e-mail every month, exclusively for them. I love designing repeat patterns in my spare time and hope to be a fabric designer some day soon!
